Dogs and puppies love dog toys, but how do you know what toy is right for your dog? With so many choices available, from plush toys, to tennis balls, to rubber toys, the right choice isn’t always obvious. First, consider the size of your dog. A large dog certainly requires a different toy than a small dog, for instance. One of the most important points to consider is that all toys you buy should be of a size that your dog can’t swallow. Even large dogs may accidentally swallow a ball that is too small for their mouth, especially if the dog is running and playing with the ball in its mouth.
Depending on how rough your dog plays and its energy level you should take the toy. If your dog is a real strong chewer, then you will need stronger and denser toys. And if your dog likes toys which cuddle then prefer taking a soft, plush doll type of toy. Your main concern should be safety while choosing dog toys. So read the label very carefully, as to which material is used when the toy is made? Occasionally, inner parts of dog toys are made of toxic materials, so it’s essential that you keep an eye on the dog while playing with this type of toy.
If accidentally the toy falls apart or is chewed then you have to throw away the toy in trash. If each day you have a habit of leaving your dog at home for longer period then prefer taking a toy which involves activity for your dog. A toy can be a bouncing one or which makes noice or which has a treat hidden inside it. These kinds of toys keep your dogs occupied for a longer perod whne you are not at home. Always remember to remove all the tags, labels, bows, ribbons or covering from the new dog toys before giving it to your dog as it can choke in the dog’s mouth.
When you are shopping for dog toys prefer buying those which are simple for them. As they will help in keeping your dogs occupied and will make them happy. Buy a toy which has thick, strong rope that’s tied into a knot on one end. This kind of toy will keep your dog occupied for many hours trying to unravel this type of toy. Keep changing your dog toys so that the dog enjoys the toys and does not get bored with them. The dog toys which are used in summer to play can be changed during Christmas time. This kind of variety is very good for your dog and especially rotating toys will help to keep their attention.
Ideal choice for your dogs are the rubber toys like rubber ball dog toy as they last for long time, they can resist damage and bacteria. These kinds of toys bounce and can keep a dogs attention for longer period. Always watch your dog while playing, as a tough chewer the dog can break off a piece of rubber and can choke on it. If the rubber toy breaks apart, immediately throw it away. Remove time to inspect the dog toys once a while, if you find any toy dirty wash it with mild soap.
