You can boil orange or lemon peel in water; after it cools it can be used as a flea dip for dogs (not moggies). Eucalyptus leaves can be used in the house; the smell will deter insects. Fennel grown in the yard keeps fleas out of the yard.

The pets bedding should be cleaned constantly. The flea eggs can be deposited onto furniture, rugs and bedding when the animal moves around. These eggs need to be killed or you have to make sure you are vigilant about keeping everything clean till there are no more fleas for at least 2 months.

There plenty more natural remedies that you’ll find online and in books. Some people call them home remedies or folks remedies. Making the decision to try these methods of preventing fleas and ticks can be a matter of not wanting to reveal your pet to presumably dangerous poisons. Garlic and brewer’s yeast can be fed to your pet in small doses. It can lead to an odor in the pets coat and skin that will repel fleas. There’s an issue with garlic though, you have got to watch out because too much garlic can be poisonous for a dog. Knowing the amount can be difficult to figure out when you’re just using a mix of garlic and brewer’s yeast. You can, however, find recipes for pet food and pet treats that you can make at home that include these ingredients.
