Get Rid Of Cat Fleas In Your Home With 3 Simple Steps

June 25th, 2009 by Jana Walsh

I couldn’t believe that my home was taken over by blood sucking fleas. Luckily, I found a product that fixed all my flea problems.

So have you noticed your beloved pet scratching more than normal the last few days, and now you have an itch that seems to be spreading to all parts of your body? Has it come to your attention that you may have a flea infestation in your home?

Many pet owners deal with a flea infestation at least once, but did you know that pets are not the only ones bringing in fleas? Fleas are not shy. They will ride on anything or anyone. Even you can bring in fleas from outside. Well, what I came across will eliminate fleas easily and effectively from your home, but before we go into that let’s begin with a little information.

Is it really a flea infestation you are dealing with?

1. Pet Itching Too Much

Does one of your pets itch more than normal? A pet being itchy is usually the first sign, but not the only. Your pet may simply have a rash or dry skin from too much sun. Even really cold weather conditions will make them itchy.

2. Small Red Bumps

There are usually little red itchy bumps that appear around your ankles and if your children play on the floor they could have them all over. These bumps disappear in just a few days.

How do you get rid of fleas in your home?

Before you start make sure you have at least a few hours to complete all three steps. If you don’t rid your home, your yard, and your pets at the same time then your flea infestation will come back.

(1) Rid Your Pet of Fleas

* Comb Out Pets – Get a flea comb and comb out all the fleas from their fur.

* Flea Powder Pets – Get the flea powder and sprinkle it evenly into your pets fur. This process eliminates not only fleas but also flea eggs and larvae.

(2) Eliminating Fleas In The House

* Take a antibacterial cleaner and clean the surfaces of your home. Make sure you get the counters, cabinets, tables, and floors. Fleas enjoy humid areas so clean the basement and garage floors too.

* Vacuum every inch of the house. Get out the attachment and clean the corners of the rooms. Fleas love to hide here.

* After vacuuming sprinkle powder evenly over the carpet.

* Wash couch surfaces and bedding in all bedrooms and sprinkle flea powder over them.

(3) Rid Yard

* Take that same flea powder and evenly coat the lawn and concrete.

* Do this at the end of every spring to prevent any fleas from multiplying.

Before you spray anything anywhere in your house make sure to read all the warnings and directions. Most are not safe until dry so do not spray around pets, or children. Also, while spraying outside remember to avoid spraying any gardens especially ones containing foods.

Information To Assist Figuring Out Yorkie Names

June 24th, 2009 by Alex Baker

The Yorkshire terrier is a dog that comes to us from Scotland and England. There is plenty more to learn about them than just what meets the eye.

The Yorkshire terrier comes from a mix of other breeds that has been tweaked over decades. The result is a very small but energetic and loveable breed of dog.

Most people find them to be quite adorable and a great companion. This is good news because Yorkshire terriers do require a great deal of attention and interaction.

They love to socialize with people but not so much with other dogs. It is best to have only one or two pets to care for if you have a Yorkshire terrier.

The coat on a Yorksy is very beautiful and very shiny. It will have a higher gloss to it though if it is eating a proper diet.

The vitamins and nutrients found in those foods are what it needs in order to really thrive. Proper grooming of this coat is essential.

When you look at a Yorkie you will no doubt not realize all of the work the owner has put into caring for it. This involves having the hair trimmed regularly, choosing a haircut that works well for it, and combing it every couple of days.

Failure to pay attention to these important grooming issues can result in the Yorkshire terrier not looking very well at all.

When you view the Yorkie Rescue up close you will notice some distinct features about them. Their coat has a variety of colors in it including but not exclusive to shades of gold and tan. Dark brown and black are also very common.

If you look very close you may even find some dark blue colors on it. The Yorkshire terrier has a very short but thick tail and the ears stand up straight.

This isn’t standard on the breed though but rather a process that is developed through a process. The owner should understand this process so they can get the right results.

It involves using a stick across the two wears with them taped into the proper position. After a length of time the ears will be permanently remaining that way.

While Yorkshire terriers are prone to many different health problems, they can do quite well with proper medical care and the right diet.

Making sure all of their basic needs are met from the very start is going to help you be successful in keeping them both healthy and happy. On average a Yorkie will live to be from 12-15 years of age.

The personality and temperament of Yorkshire terriers are quite interesting. These dogs don’t carry themselves in a way that suggests they are small in size. They are very active and extremely protective of their owners.

They don’t like to share attention though so they can become aggressive towards other pets you may have in your home.

To defend their owner and to get recognized they often engage in a very high pitched bark. It is certainly a sound you better grow accustomed to if you want to have a Yorkshire terrier around.

It is important to understand that due to their small size they are often the victims of falls and being stepped on. Make sure you do all you can to keep your Yorkie safe from such occurrences.

Why Do Many People Prefer Purebred Dogs

June 23rd, 2009 by Ferd Emy Ferdinand Okeke Nnaemeka Okeke

In recent times, dog breeds acknowledged by kennel clubs adhere to very rigorous standards. Despite the fact that these standards are so stringent, they are subtle,to the extent of being invisible to many people. In fact, if you go to a dog breeder and demand from him or her to let you see his or her present quality puppies and pet quality puppies (both of whom are purebreds) you wont be able to say the difference at all.

Purebred dogs can be very pricy, even those that are pet quality. This is a result of the fact that it is highly costly to raise them, and also because when you purchase a purebred dog, you have a warranty of how the dog will be like when it grows up physically and behaviourally.

Nonetheless, many dog breeders do not think that the process of breeding is done, and they strive to produce new breeds by crossing purebred dogs from different breeds. These mixed dog breeds are made intenionally to get the finest characteristics of the parents.

Mixed dog breeds are often unsuccessfull because some genes are recessive, while others are prevalent resulting in not being the one the breeder desired and the pups might end up with more than one bad traits from both or one of the parents. In addition, first generation mixed dog breeds vary overwhelmingly from litter to litter, even with the same type of parents. It is also usual to have puppies of the same litter with different characteristics in form, size, color, and hair.

Because of this, it needs many generations to create true mixed dog breeds that will consistently give the same characteristics, even second, third or 4th generation puppies will occasionally give a nasty surprisal by showing a trait that managed to remain recessive up until that moment.

Nonetheless, many mixed dog breeds have exhibited consistence and have reached popularity. Mayhap the most known of these mixed dog breeds involves the mixing of Poodles.

Mixed poodle breeds are popular due to the fact that they result in individuals with a coat that sheds very little and that make very small dander, as well as strong hypoallergenic properties, which they obtain from their poodle parent. Additionally, they inherit at least one good trait from other parent’s breed, for example, the Cockapoo shows the amorous and gregarious tendency of the Cocker Spaniel.

Nonetheless, despite the benefits or lineage of mixed dog breeds, big kennel clubs refuse to recognise them. This is not surprising, given how strict they are in their rules and selections.

Animal Hospitals Deflate the Bag, and Tout Real Cat Nutrition

June 22nd, 2009 by Dr. Nortey Oamboe

Animal hospitals recognize that whole nutrition for cats is a careful guesstimate, at best. But don’t worry. The finest health for your cat doesn’t have to be a lost cause. Nevertheless, it can be gone astray inside a bag of unfilled nutritional promises.

Repeatedly, you’ll read that bone meal, or meat meal, or corn meal is the chief element in your cat’s packaged foodstuff. That does not mean that it will prove to be the greatest morning or evening banquet.

Certainly, holistic cat feeding, personalized for your individual pet, is most likely to support your cat’s best shot at good health and long life.

Unprocessed foods for cats offer nutrients that are more readily available for cats’ systems to use. Natural foods are also more efficient in their transfer of energy. Plus, if you choose organically produced food, you choose to eliminate the chemicals that can interfere with nutrient and energy absorption. These are all advantages that few or no processed foods can claim.

Certain cat symptoms, such as constipation, obesity, malnutrition, skin and coat complications, and allergies can result from improper feeding. And not uncommonly, diseases of the eyes, heart, gums, kidneys, and liver are possible. Additionally, studies have proven that cancer thrives when the diet is lacking.

Ask a veterinarian, and they’re likely to recommend a specialized diet for puppy care, or during a cat’s pregnancy, or in response to any number of cat health problems or illnesses. Your veterinarian or cat nutritionist can also recommend a collection of natural recipes, designed for your healthy cat’s age, weight, and activity level.

Pet tablets are over prescribed. Some canine drugs are important for survival, but several are used to treat cat symptoms that can be prevented with an appropriate diet. For almost every cat, the best medicine is the food that he or she eats. Nevertheless, no one can define the specific percentages of nutrients, fat, and protein that is essential for optimal health of every animal, a diet composed of actual food is always best. Your veterinary nutrition authority can put together a pure food meal plan intended for your cat’s individual needs, or to lessen the chances of the development of specific needs.

To provide your cat the best opportunity to flourish, feed foods that will cure health problems, or foods to preserve his or her already good health; make customary visits to your pet’s vet; and brush your cat’s teeth often. And, don’t overlook that appropriate and timely vaccinations provide your cat the greatest shot at fighting frequent, and sometimes deadly, illnesses.

Don’t mistake appealing cat food advertisements and heartfelt vows for good cat nutrition. Convenience is really the solitary advantage that they can offer. And please, do not confuse meat meal with real meat, or with a real meal.

Essential Tips For Training Your Shih Tzu

June 21st, 2009 by Rachel Simon

While you are having your meals you should train your shih tzu to sit in a designated area until you are done eating. This may take several tries, but eventually the shih tzu will get the hang of it and you will not be bothered during dinner anymore. Of course, once you are finished eating make sure you praise your shih tzu by providing them with a nice meal in their own bowl, but only after you are completely finished with yours.

Body language plays a major part in how your shih tzu will react to your commands. Using body language properly will allow you to train your shih tzu a lot quicker. It also will help stop negative behavior in its tracks.

When youre angry at your puppy or adult Shih Tzu dog, do not chase them around the house. You may be upset with them, but to your puppy, he or she thinks youre playing a game and they will run around forever.

When you give your Shih Tzu dog a command, display a very bold and upright body position. Stand up, chest forward, and head back. Your Shih Tzu dog will have more respect and a slight bit of intimidation, which can help with training him or her.

If your Shih Tzu dog is extremely excited then do not add to the problem by getting feisty. Instead, move slowly and talk in a soothing tone of voice. Display the same behavior you wish them to use. Doing so will calm them down and it will be much easier to change their behavior.

Here is a great retrieval training tip: get some snacks together and sprinkle them on the floor a few feet away from your shih tzu. Do not let them run up and grab them right away. Make the shih tzu wait a minute or so in a seated position and when you are ready give the command “pickup” and allow your dog to eat.

Now repeat the process and every time you drop a piece of food simply use the same command to “pickup” and your shih tzu will quickly associate that with putting something in their mouth. This training usually doesn’t take long at all especially when using things your shih tzu loves to eat. Try doing it when they are hungry to speed up the process.

When your shih tzu is less than one year old make sure you confine them to one room in your living quarters. You might even want to use some child safety equipment until you are comfortable that they will not get into any trouble while you are away.
