Different Roles Of Horses In Society Leading To Human Development

August 3rd, 2011 by Byron Jonas

Equines are a beautiful and majestic creature that found a great use and need by humans. As such, humans and equines have a long history together. Throughout the ages there have been several different roles of horses in society.

First domesticated as a manageable source of food, it is uncertain when it was established that they also were great for riding. When the animal was used as food, it is theorized that it caused a growth in the size of the people in that culture. The greatest contribution of these animals came humans began riding them.

With the ability to ride, society suddenly found they were able to travel further and much faster than before. Wars were much further reaching, and exploration went to new levels. This provided a huge leap in shared knowledge, technologies, and trade with many cultures. There have been theories that the use of horses as a form of transportation directly coincides to the end of the Dark Ages.

Delivering messages from great distances was once time consuming and often a geographic nightmare, especially during times of battle. With the use of equines to get the necessary information to the recipient, that matter became more manageable and lead to many advances in culture. The well known Pony Express is evidence of that.

Horses also provided cultures with an advantage over others that did not have these creatures. A person on foot can easily be intimidated or subdued by the large size of a horse and rider. That knowledge was one reason which created the use of a mounted cavalry soldiers. This fact is also the same reason that police departments keep a mounted patrol. Mounted police officers are often seen at times of riots or large crowds to maintain control.

The versatile equine has also brought great advancements to agriculture by allowing the farmer to work more land. Horses were and in some cases still are, perfect for use on ranches when dealing with livestock. There are some areas an equine can go that a vehicle would not be able to.

Humans saw great leaps in living standards with the help of equines. Society still enjoys the companionship, working ability, and organized com petitions that surround the animals. With different roles of horses in society, it is sure that the animals will not soon be left behind.

Different Roles Of Horses In Society

August 1st, 2011 by Byron Jonas

Humans have founded many different roles of horses in society. Since their domestication, these noble creatures have had a strong history with mankind. They have had a huge impact on the advances in life styles that humans currently enjoy.

After being domesticated for food, humans realized the benefits of riding the animals and began using them for transportation. With the increased ability in movement, man began experiencing advances in trade, technology, and exploration. The end of the Dark Ages is attributed to the use of the equines by mankind.

Modern horses have a wide scope of positions throughout society, influencing political and economic roles. In some regions they are still a food source, while in others they have been elevated to the position of beloved family companion. They maintain important positions in law enforcement and military applications.

A horse has become a symbol of status within many cultures. The care requirements of the animals make those who have such an animal appear wealthier than those without. The animals kept for work purposes are not considered.

A large financial investment and risk revolves around the com petitions of various equine athletes. The bets placed by individuals for the winning horse is a large source of revenue in some regions. These competitions include racing of different breeds for various distances and courses, with or without carriages. This form of competition can bring breeders and riders large sums of money.

Another form of com petition includes show, though these events are typically not bet upon. The shows are based upon accuracy and skill of horse and rider, as well as confirmation of the animal. These com petitions are usually performed for social stature, though occasionally there is a gift of cash or other monetary value to the winner.

Many animals are also still used in traditional forms. They are put to work plowing, pulling wagons, or other types of loads. These animals can often be seen on ranches working livestock as well. This highly adaptable animal is found in cities, forests, farms and ranches competing whatever task or use it is they have been acquired for.

Mankind has shared a large chunk of history with the equine, but there is still must that is unexplained about them. Because of the many different roles of horses in society, they have a wide range of care and uses dependent upon the region. The horse will no doubt remain a large part of the human experience.

Tips For Stopping Puppy Jumping Behavior

July 26th, 2011 by Sandy Rutherforde

A brand new puppy can be an exciting addition to a family. The puppy is often as excited about being adopted into a brand new pack as the family is about having a new puppy. A new pet is often so excited that he will jump all over the new owners. As far as the dog knows, he or she is not doing something wrong. He’s simply sharing his affection for his newly found pack mates. Visitors in your house may not be so excited about seeing your new dog as the animal is about seeing them. If you get a new puppy, you will need to figure out a way to control puppy jumping behavior.

Getting the situation under control requires training the dog. There are actually as many theories on how to train a dog as there are trainers. Many concentrate on reward and punishment. When the pet jumps up on other people, he must understand that his master disapproves. Pack animals desire the approval of people who they view as the alpha. An owner needs to develop dominance in the relationship early on.

In cases where it’s done correctly, he won’t have to use more aggressive methods to assert it later on. Even something as basic as an uncomfortable noise can help. The strategy is the fact that it should be something that informs the puppy that he has displeased you in some manner. If you need suggestions on ways to do that, there are various puppy training professionals who can help you get the idea of what you need to do.

Punishment is not as helpful as rewarding the pet any time he does well. Puppies, just like little kids, crave approval from those around them. In addition they really like treats. Offering your puppy treats cements your approval and lets the dog know that he did well. Even when it doesn’t work just as the dog owner hopes, a canine companion will duplicate the earlier performance in the hope that he’ll get something eventually.

The owner can steadily raise the time between offering treats until finally the pet understands what is expected of him all of the time. It isn’t always quick to get rid of puppy jumping behavior, and high strung breeds are far more likely to have problems than low-energy dog breeds are with the same thing.

The methods given here work for numerous areas of training, but when you’re not sure if a particular method will be effective, you’ll want to consult a professional. Not every pet will be an obedience school graduate. Some dog breeds are strong-willed and will give their owners an extremely hard time. However with a good amount of persistence and love, it’s possible to deal with puppy jumping behavior once and for all.

Ten Natural Chicken Medicines

May 7th, 2011 by David Daffae

Before I get started I think that its a good idea to go the vet if your chickens show signs of disease. As their are a lot of diseases where you will just have to get antibiotics for. But of course if you can identify what kind of disease it is then their a lot of natural under the counter remedies to get your chickens but to their normal healthy happy state.

Caring For Chicks: Baby chicks will often have a wet underbelly and then that starts to collect gunk and dirt. The best way to counter this is to use baby shampoo and wash the chick.

Leg Mites: The two best ways to get rid of leg mites is Bag Balm and Pam. Bag Balm works very well if you rub it on your chickens legs. Pam is a type of cooking spray which you can spray on their legs. You dont have to use Pam spray it can be any oil spray. It helps with both leg mites and scale problems.

Wounds. Betadine works the best for cleaning out the wound. Where Ball pickling lime will help to keep the wound from becoming infected and also dries the wound quickly. But a if their wounds are already infected then use water mixed with Colloidal Silver. If that doesn’t work then I always use Neosporin.

Cannibalism: The best way to stop cannibalism is preventing it. A great way to do this is to give the chickens dry cat food. The dry cat food has a a lot of protein in it which will reduce pecking in the chicken flock. The protein will also help the chickens to grow back their feathers if they have been being pecked for a long time.

Worms: When it comes to natural de-wormers I only really use one remedy. Cayenne Pepper works great as it helps your chickens get rid of their parasites. It works very will when your chickens have bug blackheads.

Botulism: When your chickens are having trouble with Botulism then their are 3 natural remedies you can use. Epsom salt Molasses and adding vinegar to the water. The vinegar doesn’t just help with the algae but also helps with digestion and how much calcium the chickens can digest.

Fortifying The Blood. If one of your chickens is wounded then a great boost that you can use is something called Red Cell. Red Cell should be available in your local feeding store. Its used for horses and cows but can be used on chickens if you use only a small amount.
