If you already own a Yorkshire terrier it will not surprise you to hear me say that these dogs are much more than the pampered pet that you sometimes see on the television. Yorkshire terriers are very intelligent as well as being a very loyal dog, and many people consider them to be one of the most intelligent of breeds.

An animal intelligence expert carried out some tests in order to judge the intelligence of numerous breeds of dog. Out of 132 breeds that were tested, the Yorkshire Terrier came 27th, which was no surprise to me. But not only are they intelligent enough to follow ordinary commands, they actually respond well to long and complicated commands.

People have sometimes said to me that they believe their Yorkshire terrier understands everything that they say. My response is usually that you are probably quite right because they are indeed capable of understanding what you are saying and even sometimes what you are thinking.

For example, when you hug and kiss your Yorkie, and tell him, verbally, that you love him, he will come to understand that those words mean something good, even if he doesn’t understand fully what they mean. However, when you tell your Yorkshire Terrier to get his ball, he will understand exactly what you mean, and he will be able to pick that ball out of a toy box full of other toys and bring it to you. When you ask your Yorkie if he wants to eat, he associates the word ‘eat’ with food, and he will respond in his way.

Well now, we know that Yorkshire Terriers are intelligent dogs, but are they Loyal? I say that yes, they most certainly are, in fact they are fiercely loyal. OK, so they will run off and chase squirrels and rabbits and ignore your commands to return, but what do you want, a dog, or a robot. Its natural for them to chase, but as soon as the chase is over they will be back at your side again.

Your Yorkshire Terrier should be highly confident, and when it comes to danger, he won’t turn tail and run. Instead, he feels ten feet tall, and he has little regard for the size of the opponent. He will fight if he feels that you are in danger, without regard to his own safety. There have been numerous instances of Yorkshire Terriers turning into true life heroes, literally saving the lives of their owners.

The Yorkshire Terrier is, without doubt, an intelligent dog, and a loyal dog, and much much more than a pampered lap dog. If you are thinking of getting a dog then I can heartily recommend a Yorkshire Terrier as being a wonderful pet.

Boston Terrier breeders will tell you that the Boston Terrier, which is the state dog of Massachusetts, is really not a Terrier at all. Called the Boston Bull and the Boston Bull Terrier, the Boston Terrier descended from two now extinct breeds, the Old English Bulldog and the English White Terrier.

A Boston breeder, Robert C. Hopper, bred the first Boston Terriers with French Bulldogs to give the breed a smaller size and more affectionate demeanor. Traditional Bulldogs were bred to bait bulls and engage in dogfights. Mr. Hopper tried to breed out any aggressive tendencies to make the Boston Terrier a companion dog that could be kept in an apartment or home with a small yard. In 1893, the Boston Terrier became the first American breed to be registered by the American Kennel Club.

Referred to as the American Gentleman, the Boston Terrier has dapper markings that give it the appearance of wearing a tuxedo. Its muscular, compact body and fine, shiny coat add to the effect. Boston Terriers may be brindle and white, seal (black with red highlights) and white, brown and white or black and white. The white markings are in a uniform pattern: on the muzzle, in between the eyes, on the chest and stomach, around the neck, and up the forelegs.

Besides being sturdy and dapper in appearance, the Boston Terrier is very intelligent and amusing. Boston Terrier breeders provide a solid foundation of discipline and training for dog buyers to build upon. Some owners say that their Boston Terriers can do thirty or more tricks, some as intricate as riding a skateboard!

This breed is very sensitive to tone of voice and Boston Terrier breeders will inform buyers that a little bit of vocal coaching goes a long way. Boston Terriers do not respond well to negative reinforcement, shouting or punishment. However, positive reinforcement techniques such as soothing vocal tones and treats can be successful, particularly with housebreaking.

The short, fine coat of the Boston Terrier requires minimal grooming. Nails should be clipped regularly and the face and ears should be wiped with a damp cloth every day. Boston Terriers are prone to ocular conditions such as cherry eye and cataracts so eyes should be checked regularly.

Buyers should thoroughly research the breed to make sure they can meet its needs. Once buyers have found that this is the breed they are looking for, they can begin researching Boston Terrier breeders.

Boston Terrier buyers have a responsibility to thoroughly research Boston Terrier breeders. There are many illicit breeders working to make money with little regard to animal health, quality or care. Buyers should ask for references from respected breeders in their town or state. Local shelters may also be able to direct buyers to good Boston Terrier breeders.

When you get a Bichon rescue dog expect nothing but love from it. These dogs, well known for their cuddly beauty, make exceptional pets for those who love animals and love to be constantly around them. The Bichon Frise dog is an exceptionally loving dog as it is beautiful and when you get one from a rescue center you should be completely assured that you are making the best choice ever.

Having a Bichon Frise rescue dog is a joy because in most cases this dog is already housebroken and well trained. Besides, its personality will most likely match your needs exactly. When you get a rescue dog into your home keep in mind that it has a history and that is not a pleasant one. Give it time to adjust with you and your family and feel secure yet one more time through your love and the comfort it gets in your home.

Have it in a place which is a little secluded, yet not away from your company. It can be at the foot of the bed in a wide and comfortable dog basket, near your favorite armchair or the like. The dog should feel safe and secure there, as well as comfortable.

Give the dog time sufficient time to understand the rules of your home, while at the same time interact with it constantly. Always have some tidbits with you and reward the dog amply whenever it does anything praiseworthy. Ignore things it does wrong initially and continue to reward the good behavior.

There is a total bonding that forms between any pet and yourself once you have it for some time with you. There is however a very special bond when it comes to a Bichon Frise rescue dog. There is the fun time of discovering each other and there is the time when both feel grateful about each other’s presence. Adopting a dog is a wonderful thing.

No animal should be left abandoned or left to suffer and that is very true of the toy breed Pomeranian. If you know of a Pomeranian that is being abused or has been abandoned then get in touch with a Pomeranian rescue centre right away to give that little dog a second chance at a good life. Before you drop a dog off at a Pomeranian rescue centre however you may want to do a little research to make sure you are dropping it off into a situation that can help.

A good vet is essential to the survival of any abandoned or abused pet so make sure that the rescue centre you are dealing with has a relationship with a good vet that can get the pet the medical attention it needs. Without a vet there is not much a rescue centre can do so make sure that they have a vet available to them that can help the little dogs survive.

Word of mouth is the best kind of advertising and if you are looking to find out if a Pomeranian rescue centre is good at what they do or not one of the things you can do is ask around and see if they have a reputation in the community and what that reputation may be. To say you are a Pomeranian rescue centre is a great thing but if you have a reputation of doing a very poor job then that really does not help the situation at all. So check out what people are saying before you use any rescue centre.

Sometimes the best Pomeranian rescue centre is a local Pomeranian breeder. Many reputable breeders will take in abused and abandoned pets to nurse them back to health and help them find a new home. All you need to do is make sure that you are getting the dog into a situation that is going to make their journey better and not worse.
